The new Kelly Clarkson song, ‘Heartbeat Song’, could do with a post-chorus.

Post-choruses are the best.

Top 5 Best Post-Choruses

5. Demi Lovato – ‘Heart Attack’

“Attah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ahck I think I’d have a heart attah-ah-ah-ah-ahck.”

4. The Saturdays – ‘Not Giving Up’

“If you tell me no, not giving up etc.”

3. Sia – ‘Chandelier’

“I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down, won’t open my eyes.”

2. Rihanna – ‘We Found Love’

“Do-do-do-duh-duh-duh.”

1. Jordin Sparks – ‘Battlefield’

“YOU BETTER GO GET YOUR ARMOUR.”

Here’s the new Kelly Clarkson single:

A solid 7.5/10. I gave this its first listen in a slight daze at 7am this morning (first day back at uni lolz). My initial reaction was that it could really do with something a bit more: the chorus is quite short, so the ‘up up up’ bit could become quite annoying.

Imagine, therefore, if there was a post chorus. And explosion after the ‘up up ups’. And almost desperate “SO TURN IT UP” or a slightly less desperate and a more sentimental: “YOU’VE TURNED IT UP”.

Still, I guess Kelly Clarkson had to release a pretty simple song in ‘Mr Know It All’ to get a ‘Stronger’, right.
